The Model 1852 Naval Officers Sword entered service in 1852 and was in use during the American Civil War, and in every conflict thereafter until World War II.  Naval sword use was suspended for WWII, but the sword still remains part of officer's dress uniform through the current day.

This beautiful sword was produced in Solingen Germany by Max Oberhard. The beautifully-etched 32-inch long, blade on this one is in near perfect condition. The panels are beautifully detailed, as is the spine of the blade. The scabbard, likewise, is in fantastic shape, with excellent leather, but the brass is slightly tarnished. The SUPERFINE mark near the hilt indicates that this was made after 1950. The name Michael T. Burkhardt is engraved on the blade. This was bought at a local estate sale, and it is believed this sword is Vietnam era or just post-Vietnam era based on other items sold.

This sword is surplus, and may feature minor wear, light rust, dust and minor imperfections, none of which take away from it's beauty.  As-Is. No returns or refunds. Call 205-533-8595 with questions.
