The Marine Corps Combat Utility Uniform (MCCUU), is often considered the best combat uniform currently fielded by U.S. forces. It is only used by Marines and naval personnell deployed with them, such as Seabees, Corpsmen, Chaplains and their body guards. The uniform was developed at 1/10th the cost of the of the Army uniform. The Marine Corps has the patent on the camo pattern, making it unavailable to the civilian market except through surplus.
The camo has tiny logos, and "Marines" hidden in the digital pattern. In testing, MARPAT was shown to have high Infra-red diffusion.

It is rare to see these "in the wild" as Marines are not allowed to wear these unless they are deployed or in-garrison, and, as stated, they are not allowed to be sold except through surplus.

In use from 2002 through today, the MCCUU was designed with slanted pockets that can be accessed while wearing body armor.
