Based on the 1861 Navy design, the .36 caliber 1862 Colt Metropolitan Police Model is a stylish and well balanced firearm. In the days of the Civil War, police officers were often required to buy their own firearms in .36 caliber. Two of the most popular choices were the 1861 Navy Revolver and the Colt 1862 "Police Model" based on the Colt Pocket frame. The 1862 Police was the last percussion model designed and produced by Colt before the advent of cartridges.

The best features of these two designs have been combined to create a beautiful, unique revolver with all the features deemed important to law enforcement of the period.

Features include:

Silver grip frame and trigger guard
Case-hardened loading lever and frame
An improved ramp front sight.
Full-sized 1861-style frame
5.5" barrel
