This is a "Gated" conversion cylinder, which will allow you to optionally load your revolver without removing the cylinder. Instructions and a template are included if you want to use the gate for loading. You will need one fine small round file and one fine small flat file and a Dremmel or simular tool to shape your frame for loading.
If you do not want to use the "Gate" at this time; some minor filing may still be require for an accurate fit. Instructions are included, and no major gunsmithing is required. Call if you have any questions.
Get more enjoyment out of your black powder revolver by having more options: .44 black powder -six shot, .45 Schofield/.45 Long Colt -Five Shot: The current Pietta reproduction 1851 Navy revolver in .44 caliber accepts the same Kirst Konverter as is used in the Pietta made 1860 Army revolver. Since the .44 caliber Cap & Ball barrel has the same bore dimensions as a present day .45 centerfire caliber, the Kirst Konverter will simply convert these guns to a 5 shot .45 ACP. LEAD ONLY.
All Kirst Konverters are precision CNC machined in the USA from 4140 Steel and heat-treated. The cartridge conversions are rated "For Black Powder or equivalent loads only," (Read the "Caution" Statement Below).

1. Ammunition must be loaded with LEAD BULLETS and a LOW-PRESSURE POWDER CHARGE that DOES NOT EXCEED 1000 FEET PER SECOND VELOCITY!
2.NOT FOR USE IN BRASS FRAME REVOLVERS!
3. .44 and .45 caliber cylinders must NEVER BE INSTALLED IN A .36 CALIBER REVOLVER!
