ALL ANTIQUE RIFLES SOLD AS-IS. NEVER ATTEMPT TO FIRE AN ANTIQUE WEAPON WITHOUT CONSULTING A GUNSMITH. SEE PICTURES FOR CONDITION AND DETAILS

The Vetterli design was one of the first successful bolt-action military rifles to see wide use. The design was further improved in 1887 when the simple, single-shot, rifles were converted to repeaters with the addition of the Vitali five-shot magazine.

This example was built in 1880 in the Torino factory. The cartouce is in excellent shape, and it appears the rifle was converted at the Genova factoryin 1887. The previous cartouche is also partially visible. There is a professionally inlaid brass plate with the initials J.R.D.. All numbers appear to be matching. The bore is immaculate. The cleaning rod is missing. The Terni bayonet is not matched, but is a fairly rare variation among the many variations of these bayonets.
