Early into the War Between The States, the Confederacy realized the need for additional arms. The Texas firm of J.H. Dance & Brothers became one of the most famous companies to answer the call in 1862. Their revolver was nominally based off the Colt Dragoon but notably lacked the recoil shield found on most contemporary revolvers at the time.
As a result of this, other improvements and overall build quality some contemporaries believed it was among the best revolvers out there. A September 1862 issue of The Houston Tri-Weekly Telegraph described the revolvers as “superior to Colt’s best."

Unfortunately the company was never able to produce the gun in sufficient quantity as less than 500 were ever made.

This Traditions 1862 Dance revolver replica is "in the white" just like most of the surviving originals, and in .44 caliber making it a perfect representation of real Dance revolvers.
