The M1 helmet was used by the U.S. military from WWII until 1985. This example was made by R.J. Stampings of Canada, who made helmets for U.S. and Canadian use all the way until the helmet was phased out in 1985 It is numbered 629, which should date it to the late 1970s.
More interesting is the Cold War-era U-SCH helmet liner made by Ulbricht Schwanenstadt Manufacture of Austria. After WWII, Austria and Germany, under occupation, also adopted the M1 Helmet. They received quantities from America and Canada, and produced them domestically. One major difference was their helmet liner which was based on the leather interior of the WWII German Stalhelm. This leather liner was considered far more comfortable than the American style, and could be adjusted for fit with a single lace. These are rare and typically cost more than $50 by themselves.
Some rust, and the chin strap is missing.
These items arrive as surplus and may feature minor wear, dust and minor imperfections. As-Is. No returns or refunds. Call 205-533-8595 with questions. Styrofoam head not included, use your own.
