The M/964 combat uniform was developed especially for African use in the Portugal Colonial Wars against Angola (Angolan War of Independence, 1961-1974), Mozambique (Mozambican War of Independence, 1964-1974), and Guinea-Bissau (Guinea-Bissau War of Independence, 1963-1974). Unlike France, Britain, the Dutch or other European powers, Portugal refused to give up their colonies, and fought until the people of Portugal revolted against their government and deposed the Estado Novo government.
The M/964 was a uniform designed for the heat of Africa, it was made from breathable, lightweight materials, and based heavily on French designs, including the Quico hat, based off of the French Bigeared hat. These uniforms were used by Portugal from 1964-1984 and have been used by various factions in Angola, Biafra, Congo, Mozambique, Rhodesia, South Africa, and by the Zimbabwe African Liberation Army.
This hat is in excellent shape, and is original - not one of the replicas on the market today. The size is Large or Medium.
Perfect for collectors, quality hat aficionados, and more. Heck, since this hat officially dates back to the 1870s, you could even use it for Cowboy Action.
