This is an absolutely beautiful example of Mauser history. What began as an 88 Commission Rifle has been updated to Mauser 98 standards by Ankara with a K98-style stock and sights, presumably during the 1938 update. The receiver also has the notch associated with the S Patrone 8mm Mauser Spitzer cartridge.

Unfortunately, as part of the process, most of the original manufacturer marks were polished off, and the original serial number was mostly obliterated.

The only parts matching are the sights and the most recent serial on the receiver. No other parts match, which is common for these rifles. The stock is nice, with a few gouges (see pictures). The rifle was covered in cosmoline, and there is still quite a bit of cosmoline left, but the bore appears very good. The bayonet, also, was covered in cosmoline, and we've only removed it from the outside to asses condition. Condition of both rifle and bayonet are very good.

The bolt is buttery smooth.
